East Cleveland Neighborhood Center

Funding to East Cleveland Neighborhood Center to support operating expenses for Freedom Schools, a Children’s Defense Fund 6-week summer enrichment program focused on
prevention of summer reading loss and enhancing social/cultural development skills. The program serves 35-50 underserved children in grades K-8 who reside in East Cleveland and surrounding inner ring communities. In 2021 and 2022, >90% of scholars maintained or gained in their instructional reading level. For scholars who increased in reading level, the average gain was 9-12 months.
